Debbie Gray - Producer, Genesius Pictures

Debbie is a Producer and Executive Producer with over 20 years experience in Film, Television and Music, having produced the BAFTA nominated and award- winning film Northern Soul, which premiered in North America at the Toronto International Film Festival before its successful US release. Debbie has recently produced the Railway Children, Maxine Peake as Hamlet, Peter Grimes on Aldeburgh Beach and Starfish with Joanna Froggatt and Tom Riley.

Debbie was an Executive Producer at ITV Studios for five years where she developed and produced drama and observational documentaries including Martina Cole’s Girl Gangs in LA and London & Animal Cops for Discovery. She also Executive Produced Ibiza Rocks for Channel 4 and has produced over 30 hours of drama and light entertainment for the BBC. In 2001, she worked with Buffalo Pictures, as a Producer whilst the company was developing the first Doc Martin series.

As well as producing, Debbie, a qualified lawyer, practiced media law and business affairs for thirteen years, working on films including Sliding Doors, The English Patient and 24 Hours in London. Debbie sat on the board of the Creative Industries in East Anglia and is the author of the book published by Medialex “How to Set Up and Run a Successful Production Company”.

Debbie is drawn to strong projects, which attract award winning talent, both behind the camera and in front. Debbie’s background enables her to merge the creative with the commercial. It is about giving the right creative team the wherewithal and structure to flourish whilst keeping the nancial management and workflows very controlled..
