Karan Butani

Karan Butani is a filmmaker and VR storyteller. His first feature film in Hindi starring Jimmy Shergill, Kay Kay Menon and Shriya Saran is scheduled to release early next year. Karan was Tigmanshu Dhulia’s associate director for five years on films such as Paan Singh Tomar, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster and Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns.

As a filmmaker shooting his first feature film, Karan realised the sheer amount of time and effort being wasted on figuring out where to shoot. To find a setting that would do justice to the world he had created in his story, as well as one that would not bankrupt his producers, was a tedious process.

On a side note, Karan’s interest in Virtual Reality began in late 2014 simply as another interesting avenue to storytelling.

Two years later the two combined to solve a problem and Recce The World came to be. Recce The World launches officially in April 2017.
