Rita has overseen the growth of filming in the Florida Keys from .5 million annually to several million on average.

With assistance provided to films through the years including Spanish Prisoner with Steve Martin and directed by David Mamet, Speed 2 with Sandra Bullock and Wilem DaFoe, Red Dragon with Ralph Fiennes and Edward Norton, The Leisure Seeker with Helen Mirren and Donald Southerland.

Rita was also closely involved with television productions varying from MTV’s Real World Key West to 3 seasons of the Netflix original series Bloodline.

Prior to her job as film commissioner, Rita worked for a time in production as a Production assistant, Production Manager and extras casting assistant.

Her first love was legitimate theatre and was a founding member of Greene Street Theatre in Key West Florida where Tennessee Williams was closely involved with the opening production of Suddenly Last Summer, rewriting the ending for us.
