Alastair Clark founded Wellington Films in 2000 with partner Rachel Robey. In 2005 they were cited by Screen International as Stars of Tomorrow in their annual feature. In 2016 they were named by Creative England as one of the Top 50 Creative
Companies in England.Their BAFTA nominated debut feature, LONDON TO BRIGHTON (Edinburgh International Film Festival 2006, Toronto International Film Festival 2006) earned them the Best Achievement in Production award at the 2006 British Independent Film Awards and a nomination at the London Critics Circle Film Awards for British Film Producers of the Year. It was released to widespread critical acclaim by Vertigo Films and has since been named by TimeOut London as one of the top 100 British films of all time. Currently on global release as a Netflix Original Film is Matt Palmer’s debut feature, CALIBRE. It premiered at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2018 where it won the Michael Powell Award for Best British Film and has since been nominated for five BAFTA Scotland Awards, including a clean sweep of the Best Actor category. It was released theatrically in the UK by BIFA/Curzon. Other credits include BETTER THINGS, the critically acclaimed debut feature film by Duane Hopkins (Cannes Film Festival – Critics Week 2008, Toronto International Film Festival 2008); Alexis Dos Santos’ UNMADE BEDS (Sundance Film Festival – World Cinema section 2009, Berlinale – Generations section 2009); Justin Molotnikov’s CRYING WITH LAUGHTER (SXSW 2009, Best Film at BAFTA Scotland 2009); and Varon Bonicos’ feature documentary A MAN’S STORY (Sheffield Doc/Fest 2011). They have also produced over 30 short films for festivals and TV, including ROYALTY by Paul Andrew Williams, THE GAS MAN by Matt Palmer for Rankin Films’ Collabor8te and THE DARK by Tom Hemmings starring Toby Jones. Alastair has taught on many film production courses, including at the Met Film School, National Film & Television School, BFI Film Academy, London Film Academy, Nottingham Academy, Film London Microschool, Film Business School, FilmTrain and FilmWorks.
