West country boy and occasional sheep farmer and folk musician, James Studholme has been instrumental in the careers of such directors as Ivan Zacharias, Paul Gay, Steve Reeves, Dominic Murphy, Blue Source, Kevin Thomas, Dougal Wilson, Mark Denton, Lynn Fox and Lionel Goldstein.James started Blink with Bob Lawrie in 1985. Initially an animation company, Blink developed into a live action production company in 1993. Blink is now composed of Blink Productions (live action commercials), Blinkink (hybrid animation meets design meets live action) Colonel Blimp (music video and commercials) Major Tom (music), Blink Art (illustration, set design & photography) and Blink Industries (television and entertainment).
Most recently Blink won Televisual’s Production Company Of The Year 2016. They were awarded the same title by the British Arrows and Shots Awards in 2015, and again in 2014 by Creative Circles and Shots Awards, as well as by Campaign in 2012.
Recent films of note include The Layzell Brother’s Grand Prix winning ad for Harvey Nichols, Shoplifters and Dougal Wilson’s We’re The Superhuman’s for Channel 4 Paralympics. With Dougal Wilson, Blink also produced John Lewis’ long awaited 2016 Christmas ad, Buster The Boxer, after the success of The Long Wait, Snowman and Monty’s Christmas in previous years.
