Founder - Kinolibrary

Jenny Coan has been working in the archive footage industry for over 10 years. In 2013 she founded Kinolibrary along with business partner Serena Sharp. Their mission was to unearth high quality archival films and make them commercially available for licencing to filmmakers and media professionals across the world.
In 2018 Kinolibrary acquired a vast collection of over 40,000 reels showing different locations around the world from the 1960s to 2000. What made these reels particularly special is that they were almost all shot on 35mm. Owing to the excellent quality of the film stock, and the fact they had been largely unseen since first shot, meant that each reel produced excellent results from scanning. Since the acquisition last year, Kinolibrary have been scanning reels to 4K files to make this amazing historical location footage available to use on the big and small screen. Already shots from the collection have been used in many features, dramas and documentaries across the world. From pre-revolution Iran to many airports and planes from the last century, to shops and fashionistas of London’s swinging 60s Carnaby street, the collection is a rich tapestry of sites from the past and by ‘scanning on demand’ for clients wanting to licence clips, new historic locations are being discovered all the time.
