Nia Hughes is an Organising Official for the BECTU sector of Prospect and is based in London. She is responsible for developing and strengthening the Location Department, Post Production and Production branches within the London Production Division of the Union. Nia has spoken and chaired on various panels, including The Rough Assembly Talks, Cinema Jam, TUC conferences and more.
Nia’s background is in Photography, having graduated from Camberwell College of Arts, and worked within the Visual Arts before joining BECTU in 2016. Nia’s specialism and interest lie in developing modern and contemporary trade union platforms which ensure young and new entrant workers into the industry are competent and confident in knowing their workers’ rights, and know how to develop smart working practices and methodologies.
