Perelandra Beedles – Senior Lecturer, Edge Hill University

Perelandra Beedles has worked extensively as a Television Director, Producer and Production Manager.

Trained as the youngest female network director at the BBC, directing shows including the National Lottery and Breakfast News, Perelandra was part of the launch team for the corporations first digital platform BBC Choice (now BBC3).

Moving to Granada Television she worked first as a live studio gallery producer before becoming a senior producer and Channel Editor across ITV’s Lifestyle department. Her keen interest in branded content, along with her work on ITV’s digital platforms, led to her appointment as manager of Sony Computer Entertainment’s Film and TV department. Directing and producing commercials, DVD extras, webisodes, and other transmedia content.

Perelandra came to Edge Hill University in 2013 and is now a Senior Lecturer in Film and Television Production and programme Leader for Television Production Management. She continues to freelance in the broadcast industry, most recently on branded content for Sony Playstation’s JK Rowling collaboration Book of Spells.

Perelandra is currently a PhD Researcher at Edge Hill University working on an educational doctorate project entitled ‘The Hinterland of Production’. Using reflection and reflexivity when teaching Sustainability and Collaborative Action for Television Studio Production Craft
