Steve Smith

Steve Smith is a BAFTA award winning multi-camera television director and has taken the creative lead on numerous projects to help create some of the UK’s most popular television programmes. He has 30 years production experience in which he’s directed, produced and executive produced shows, working on a wide range of programmes across a number of genres from factual to entertainment. He is the current Chair of Directors UK the professional association for UK screen directors, representing the creative, economic and contractual interests of 7000 members. He’s passionate about sustainability and the role filmmakers need to play in the cultural shift required to address the climate emergency and and become a net zero carbon society. He has recently launched a new indie – Picture Zero Productions producing content on environmental issues with a mainstream, commercial audience appeal to inspire positive change. Steve is a BAFTA albert ambassador helping make TV green by teaching  Carbon Literacy courses and encouraging sustainable activities in all aspects of programme-making. He is also an non-executive director on the board of Elstree Film Studios.
