Luane Gauer – Head of Acquisitions, Protagonist Pictures Limited 

Born and raised in Brazil, Luane Gauer joined Protagonist Pictures as Head of Acquisitions in 2020. Protagonist’s current slate includes the Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas starrer OFFICIAL COMPETITION by Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat; Eskil Vogt’s THE INNOCENTS; Rebecca Miller’s SHE CAME TO ME, starring Tahar Rahim and Anne Hathaway; the underwater thriller THE DIVE by Maximilian Erlenwein; and Thordur Palsson’s THE DAMNED starring Odessa Young. Previously, Luane worked at Focus Features and Universal Pictures International for over eight years, most recently as vice president of production and acquisitions in Los Angeles. At Focus, she supervised Emerald Fennell’s PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN, which premiered at Sundance in 2020; international acquisitions such as Joanna Hogg’s THE SOUVENIR; multi-territorial acquisitions such as Asghar Fahradi’s EVERYBODY KNOWS; and single-territory acquisitions such as Pedro Almodovar’s PAIN AND GLORY.
