Facing the Future: What about the independents?

Facing the Future: What about the independents?

It has always been hard surviving as an independent producer, but there are fears the increasing dominance of the online streaming platforms will drive up costs even further making it harder to raise finance and ultimately make films. Some independents regard the increase in streaming platforms as creating a buoyant market. Now, there are many many more opportunities enabling the sector to grow. But is it the same as it was? Will something get lost in the mix? Does it now mean the independent sector has to go in a different direction?
