The documentary explosion – what’s going on?
Over the past few years documentary and the audience’s appetite for it has exploded. It is so popular.
This discussion will look at the reasons why this has happened, what is meant when we talk about documentary in this landscape, for example, the different and changing forms of documentary. and the cross over between factual and documentary programming. Is it true that nowadays, it is far easier to find the funding for a theatrical documentary film rather than fiction. Is it easier to engage today’s audiences in documentary and why does the panel think that is?
